Caribe Jewelry was founded on March 27th, 1983, when the brothers Ricardo, Alfredo and Luis Eduardo Díaz Alfaro decided to open a small commercial establishment called Taller de Joyería Caribe, in Cartagena de Indias.
Throughout the years, this jewelry has undergone an exponential growth, going from being a small workshop to being consolidated as a large family business, outstanding among the jewelry stores in Cartagena for its quality, innovation and excellent service.
It is worth mentioning that, since its foundation, the company has participated in mining operations in the department of Boyacá, where the best Colombian emeralds are extracted.
Its evolution has always gone hand in hand with the innovations surrounding the production of unique jewelry pieces. Today, Caribe Jewelry still has the same essence, passion and dedication, just like in the beginnings.
“We have achieved a vertically integrated industry that designs, produces and sells jewelry with Colombian emeralds set in 18k gold or sterling silver, as well as cuts and polishes emeralds for internal consumption or for sale to wholesalers.” Luis Eduardo Díaz.
Caribe Jewelry had the opportunity to enter the international market with the opening of stores in Spain and Panama, between 2000 and 2011, developing a new concept of jewelry, where visitors could see unique museum pieces, in addition to experiencing a visit to an emerald mine through the replica of a tunnel. This concept is still being developed in two of its stores in Cartagena.
In 2010, the Díaz Alfaro brothers decided to open the doors of FEJOCAR (Caribe Jewelry School Foundation) an initiative that looks after the training of jewelers ad sales advisors. Over the years, many of its graduates have had the opportunity to work with the production team of Caribe Jewelry, which consolidates this institution as an important pillar in the development of the local community.
Nowadays, Caribe Jewelry is the only jewelry store in Colombia with a Quality Management Certificate, ISO 9001, which allows it to offer certified emeralds and international guarantee in each of its pieces. For this reason, it has become one of the favorite brands of foreigners arriving aboard cruise ships in search of fascinating gemstones.
Today, in adition to having its own jewelry workshop with more than 25 goldsmiths, Caribe Jewelry has a modern 1500 m2 building and a beautiful showroom in its main headquarters, as well as three branches in the Old City and two at the Almirante Hotel and Conrad Hilton Hotel, where day after day, their doors open to people from all over the world
