Caribe Jewelry was founded on March 27th, 1983, when the brothers Ricardo, Alfredo and Luis Eduardo Díaz Alfaro decided to open a small business establishment called Taller de Joyería Caribe LTDA, in the tourist city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
Subsequently, in 2000, the jewelry presented commercial modification and started to be named Joyería Caribe S.A. until 2006, when the Díaz Alfaro brothers chose to be Sociedad Joyería Caribe S.A.
“We have achieved a vertically integrated industry that, on the one hand, designs, produces and sells jewelry with Colombian emeralds set in 18-carat gold or sterling silver and, on the other hand, cuts and polishes emeralds for domestic demand or for sale to wholesalers “. Luis Eduardo Díaz.
Since 2001, the company entered the international market by opening stores in Spain and Panama with a new concept of jewelry, where visitors could see unique museum pieces in an interesting and pleasant atmosphere, as well as experience the visit to an emerald mine in the replica of a tunnel.
In 2001, the first Emerald Museum was opened in Cambrils, Spain. However, the brothers were determined to find a country with political stability and a commercial future that would attract enough foreign visitors. That country was Panama, where they would open a larger and more complete museum in Panama City.
Today, in addition to the original idea of the jewelry repair workshop, the company has a modern building of 1500 mts.2 with more than 25 goldsmiths and a large and beautiful exhibition hall in its headquarters, as well as five branches in the old city of Cartagena de Indias.
It is important to remark that the company has participated in mining operations at the famous Muzo emerald mine in Boyaca, Colombia. Caribe Jewelry has also attended national and international fairs and special events.
